Andrew Douglas Rothbard Releases New Album

Rejoice, for we have been offered a new release by Andrew Douglas Rothbard, to whom I dedicated a post here.

Frequenseqer is the name of the album and I have not heard it yet, but have no fear, as you and I can stream it on Mr. Rothbard's Bandcamp here.

At The Bandcamps - Metal Labels

More and more bands and labels are coming to realize the advantage of Bandcamp.
Lately I've been enjoying Bandcamps by metal music labels such as Relapse, Antithetic, Willowtip, 20 Buck Spin and now Candlelight USA.

The latter is now offering digital downloads at 7.99$ (instead of 9.99$) for a limited time (damn, I sound like a crappy commercial... I disgust myself... too bad I ain't paid for this, I just love the fact I can stream the music from these labels' bands).

So check it up here:
Candlelight
(check out Xerath, Ihsahn, Woe, Havok, Krieg, Cruachan, Insomnium, October Tide, Absu and Meads of Asphodel)
Relapse (check out Mose Giganticus, Howl, Horseback, Titan, Tombs, Obscura, Control Denied, Death, Black Anvil, Indian, Revocation, Toxic Holocaust, Cephalic Carnage, Zombi, Black Tusk, Abysmal Dawn, Baroness, Mumakil, Cough, Exhumed, Haemorrhage, Brutal Truth, Buried Inside, Don Caballero, Burst, Minsk, Carb Bomb, Unearthly Trance, Necrophagist, Antigama...)
Antithetic
Willowtip (check out Gigan, Dim Mak, Maruta, Arsis, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Ulcerate, Electro Quarterstaff, Gorod, Magrudergrind...)
20 Buck Spin
Profound lore (Agalloch, Caina, Disma, Mitochondrion, Cobalt, Portal, Krallice, Gates of Slumber, Avichi, Leviathan, Yob...)
Heavy Artillery (Vektor)

If you know/find others, please post them in the comments.

Recommendation: Hostsonaten - Summereve (2011, AMS)

The 4th and last installment in the Seasons Cycle by Fabio Zuffanti's Hostsonaten, Summereve is an epic conclusion to the suite and is becoming my favourite of the "seasons", despite me disliking the summer.

Review: Humble Grumble - Flanders Fields (2011, AltrOck)

If you wish for an album to elevate your spirits, if you want happy and jovial music, if you want groove, excitement, jazziness and a bit of eclecticism, you’re in the right “field”.

White Willow Release Teaser From Upcoming Album (+Pre-Order)

White WIllow Left to right:
Sylvia Skjellestad, Jacob Holm-Lupo, Ellen Andrea Wang, Ketil Vestrum Einarsen, Lars Fredrik Frøislie and Mattias Olsson.

Here's the blurb:
"Excerpts from White Willow's forthcoming album "Terminal Twilight", available from The Laser's Edge in North America and from Termo Records in the rest of the world.
To be released on October 11."

Update 12/8/11:
"It's up for pre-order at the Termo shop now. Official release is, as has been said, October 11th.
You can order it here: http://termo.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/cd-white-willow-terminal-twilight

The first 25 orders will get a copy signed by Lars Fredrik Frøislie and myself, just to make it a little worthwhile.

I have to point out, though, that for North American customers, it will be worthwhile to wait for the American release through The Laser's Edge, which will be available from any and all of your favorite US vendors. It will ship out faster to North American customers, and will be less costly due to lesser postage fees and the state of the dollar. US and European release will be simultaneous.

And for those who do their shopping with the excellent Burning Shed (who can blame them?), they have also put it up for pre-order now: http://www.burningshed.com/store/progressive/product/99/3234/

So - between these options most needs should be satisfied :-)

Jacob "

Recommendation: Teliof - Is It?

Today I'm featuring a lovely Israeli progressive rock band called Teliof. I bought their album Is It? some time ago, on a whim, not knowing too much how they sounded like or who the lineup was. But the snippets I heard on their Myspace were enough to push me towards buying the album.

Recommendation: Badawi - The Heretic Of Ether

Badawi is the project of Raz Mesinai, an Israeli musician and composer who also works in other constellations. You can get a much better and profound background on him here and here.

Recommendation: Winds - The Imaginary Direction Of Time

A few years ago, I don't remember when exactly (probably around 2005), as I was browsing the cd's in the metal section at a local cd store, I noticed this beautiful cover on one album:
